Story By: RACE OF CHAMPIONS – SYRACUSE, NY – The Race of Champions Modified Series will take part in the exclusive promotion of two additional events during the 2018 season. The series itself will be promoting the August 4th Chemung (N.Y.) Speedrome event, and then it will be joining forces with two business partners to promote the August 31st event at Spencer Speedway just of east of Rochester, N.Y.
The Saturday, August 4th event at Chemung, which has become a Series tradition will feature the Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series in the 75 lap Rod Spalding Classic. The Race of Champions Super Stock Series will join the program and compete in the Tribute to Ed McGuire ‘51’, honoring former Series car owner and his full-fender racing exploits. The INEX Legends and INEX Bandoleros will join the program as well. The race will also once again play host to the Spalding Foundation for Injured Driver’s Auction.
On Friday, August 31st the Series will return to Spencer Speedway in Williamson, N.Y., to close out the season at the 1/2 –mile speedplant. Spencer has a long standing tradition with Modified racing dating back to competitors like Richie Evans, Jerry Cook, Jimmy Spencer, Tony Hirschman and the Leaty family, led by Father Jan and his son Mike, who is the reigning title holder on the Race of Champions Series. Mike Leaty and another well recognized name in Modified and Late Model racing circles throughout the Northeast and at Spencer; Jeff DeMinck have come onboard to assist in the promotion of the event.
The Modifieds will take part in a 75-lap tribute to Patsy and Joe Catalano event on the 31st while being joined by the Lancaster National Speedway type Street Stocks and the inaugural Race of Champions Four Cylinder Series race.
Tickets for the events will be available the night of the event. Pre-sale advance tickets will not be available. General adult admission for both events will be $22 for an adult. There will be $2 discount promotional coupons released this Summer prior to both events. All ticketing information will be released in the near future for both events.
