Racing Returns To The Lancaster Motorplex As Calendar Switches To Month Of June

Story By: STEVEN PETTY / LANCASTER MOTORPLEX – LANCASTER, NY – With the calendar switching to June, racing will begin to intensify at Lancaster Motorplex. Racing programs are scheduled throughout the entire month at the historic facility on both the 1/8th-mile -dragstrip and the ½-mile oval.

The 2022 stock car season opener will take place on Saturday, June 4 featuring a six-division program. The New York Super Stock Series and WNY TQ Midgets will be joined by the Sportsman, Late Models, Street Stocks, and 4 Cylinders, Pit gates will open at 12 noon with the grandstands opening at 4 pm and racing will get underway at 6 pm sharp. Practice will take place from 2-5:30 pm. Tech inspection for all stock cars will begin at 12 noon.

The stock car program will also host races on June 11 and June 18. The June 11 program will be the makeup 2021 US Open with the return of the Race of Champions Modified Series, plus Late Models and Street Stocks. The June 18 racing program known as the “Summer Bash” will feature the Sportsman, Street Stocks, and 4 Cylinders.

At all stock car events, the popular Big Wheel Races will be taking place during intermission.

The IHRA sanctioned drag program will also have plenty of racing action throughout the month, including weekly racing on Friday nights. Weekly action continues each Tuesday with Test & Tune, Junior Dragster, Trophy Class, Northeast Open Comp, and Senior Nostalgia. GRUDGE racing and cruise nights will take place every Wednesday. The popular Mopar Day will take place on Sunday, June 12.
