
Story By: STEVEN PETTY / NYIRP AT LANCASTER SPEEDWAY – LANCASTER, NY – New York International Raceway Park at Lancaster Speedway & Dragway hosted the 2021 awards ceremony as well as a registration party at The Stage in Williamsville, NY Sunday afternoon.
Those in attendance were able to register their race cars as well as reserve their pit pad for the 2022 campaign. Those who are still wanting to register their cars and reserve pit pads can contact the speedway via social media or call the speedway office.
Speedway officials were on hand to answer any questions about the upcoming season. It was announced that drivers needing transponders are asked to contact Speed 77. Conveniently located on Allegany Road (Route 77) in Corfu, NY, Speed 77 is a dealer for Troyer Race Cars, LFR, Howe, DRP Racing Products, Five Star Bodies, and more. Speed 77 is offering a racer’s rate of $160 for the transponder and a one-year subscription. Speed 77 can be found on Facebook and can be reached by phone at 1-888-286-8065.
The 2021 awards were also distributed. The track champions Shawn Nye (Sportsman), Rich Sharpe (Street Stocks), and David Brunka (4 Cylinders) each received their championship banner and jacket. Second and third in points each received trophies as well as point fund monies.
Eleven race dates will headline the 2022 stock car schedule at NYIRP, including the 33rd and 34th edition of the US Open for tour-type Modifieds, the New York Super Stock Series (NYSS), and the Small Block Super Modified Championship Series.
