RPW Column: Young Tyler Alkas’ Testing The Waters This Season With An Eye On 2022

Column By: BRITTANY NUTILE / RPW – KENSINGTON, CT – Tyler Alkas is set to embark on a part-time SK Light schedule at Stafford Motor Speedway this coming season with sights set on making a run full-time in the division in 2022.

Alkas’s upcoming year will mark his tenth in the sport.  He’s never run at the Stafford Springs, CT oval but is very eager to.  He also has never run an SK Light.

What type of goals does he have for the future?

“My goals at Stafford are to run part-time this season, aiming for consistent finishes and then go after Rookie of the Year in 2022,” Alkas said.  “While I’m going to run occasionally at Stafford, I’m planning to compete full-time at Waterford.”

How did Alkas get into the sport of auto racing?

“It was my grandfather and dad,” he said.  “They both raced. I started in flat karts at the age of 4.”

Be sure to keep an eye on Tyler Alkas this coming season at both Connecticut speedways.
