Column By: JOHN DOUGLAS / RPW – DAYTONA BEACH, FL – In a statement made Thursday afternoon, NASCAR announced that fans will not be allowed to attend their events at Atlanta or Homestead-Miami Speedway in a move to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. As concerns widen over the spread of bacteria containing the COVID-19 virus, many sports organizations are either cancelling or postponing events.
NASCAR’s statement was short and to the point of the matter:
“At this time, NASCAR will hold its race events at Atlanta Motor Speedway and Homestead-Miami Speedway without fans in attendance. These events will be restricted to competitors, crews, officials and other necessary personnel to conduct the race. We will work with public health officials as we determine future scheduling beyond these events.”
