Story By: RACE OF CHAMPIONS – WILLIAMSON, NY – On Friday, August 30, 2019 the Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series will take part in the Maynard Troyer Classic at Spencer Speedway presented by Wilbert’s U-Pull It.
The race will be a lucrative one for racers paying $6,000-to-win for the 60-lap distance, in honor of the legendary car racer and car builder who visited victory lane on many occasions at the half-mile speedplant.
Troyer built an unrivaled racing career, becoming one of the top Modified racers in the history of the sport, competing in Late Models, Super Modifieds, even a NASCAR Winston Cup Car, before creating the brand that carried his name and has defined Modified racing for decades.
“Maynard Troyer created an unmatched legacy in Modified racing history,” stated Troyer employee Kevin Miller, who has become a full-time Series competitor in 2019. “I am very proud to work at Troyer and play a small role in carrying on such a great legacy. We’ve gone through some changes recently, but the name on the door is still Troyer and we are all extremely proud of that. This is going to be an incredible night and we are all looking forward to it.”
The Race of Champions Late Model Series will bring Late Model racing back to action at Spencer as well as the Wilbert’s U-Pull It Super Six division to round out an exciting night of racing.
The “Food Truck Frenzy” featuring local food trucks and tastes from the area will also make its return and give fans the final opportunity of the 2019 season to take part in this unique race track food experience.
The gates open at 5:00 pm at Spencer Speedway for fans, with qualifying to follow at 7:15 pm on Friday, August 30.
