Story By: CAMDEN PROUD / OSWEGO SPEEDWAY – OSWEGO, NY – The dates for all three rounds of the 19th annual Novelis Fan Can Chase at the Oswego Speedway have been announced ahead of the track’s 73rd Season Kickoff scheduled for Saturday, May 25.
The first round of the 2024 Fan Can Chase will be held on Chase Enterprises Autograph Night on June 22. Round two will take place on Independence Day Weekend as part of Burke’s Do It Best Home Centers Twin 40’s for Novelis Supermodifieds July 6, and finally, the 19th edition of the Fan Can Chase comes to a close when Novelis and C’s Beverage Center present the 37th annual $10,000 to win Mr. Novelis Supermodified 75-lapper on August 10.
Once again, the person that donates the most cans by Track Championship Night will have the choice of one of the following three grand prizes; (2) 2025 Oswego Speedway regular season reserved tickets, (2) regular season pit passes or (2) regular season Sky Deck Passes.
Positions two and three in the final Fan Can Chase standings will have the opportunity to select from one of the remaining two Grand Prizes. All households that donate 1,000 cans or more will receive (1) GA pass for the 68th annual edition of Budweiser International Classic Weekend.
Tentative can collection times will be 2:30 to 4:00pm, however, this is subject to change based on the Speedway’s starting time.
For the fourth straight season, last year’s Novelis Fan Can Chase again set a new record, with a total of 148,853 cans turned in across the three collection dates. The amount broke the previous record of 147,168 cans set in 2022.
Proceeds from the Fan Can Chase are donated to several local organizations such as Oswego Renaissance, P-TECH, Oswego County Opportunities, The Child Advocacy Center, and more.
In Fall 2023, employees of Novelis and representatives from the Oswego Speedway presented Oswego County Opportunities (OCO) with a $10,000 donation for the agency’s Services to Aid Families (SAF) program.
SAF is Oswego County’s licensed domestic violence and rape crisis program and provides crisis, supportive, advocacy and educational services. Last year, SAF served more than 600 victims and survivors.
To date, the Novelis Fan Can Chase has raised more than $185,000 for organizations in our community.
Oswego Speedway’s 73rd season of racing will take the green flag on Saturday, May 25th, with the 75-lap Jim Shampine Memorial for Novelis Supermodifieds, 35-lap Tony White Memorial for Pathfinder Bank SBS, and a 30-lap Memorial Day Weekend special for J&S Paving 350 Supers serving as the lid lifters.
