Story By: JIM CLARKE / PETERBOROUGH SPEEDWAY – PETERBOROUGH, ONT – A fresh month of action takes the green flag Saturday, August 5th as Peterborough Speedway welcomes the OSCAAR Modified and Hot Rod tours to Canada’s Toughest 3rd Mile Oval.
“Of all the special events we host during the season, the OSCAAR divisions are some of the most popular,” said track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse. “The Modifieds and Hot Rods are both on the schedule for the 30th anniversary Autumn Colours Classic, so they’ll be looking to get some track time prior to the season ending event.”
In 2022, Andy Kamrath swept both the July and ACC dates for the Modifieds, while at 80 years of age the late Bill Zardo Sr. claimed July’s Hot Rod division checkered flag. Tyler Hawn took the Autumn Colours Hot Rod win.
Also on the line-up to kick-off the new month will be the home track Bone Stock and Mini Stock classes, plus the Outlaw Midgets. A free pre-race corn roast will be available to all fans, racers, staff and officials. Pit gates open at 2:00, with the spectator grandstands unlocked at 4:00 and the night’s first qualifying heat at 6:00.
The season’s final Double Toonie Fan Appreciation Night – presented by Pepsi – featuring the Bone Stock, Mini Stock, Renegade Truck, Late Model and Junior Late Model divisions, plus the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series is slated for Saturday, August 12th with a 5:00 green flag.
