Ontario Modified Racing Series Teams Open ’23 Schedule At Peterborough Speedway

Story By: JIM CLARKE / ONTARIO MODIFIEDS RACING SERIES – PETERBOROUGH, ONT – The first show of the year is always the most exciting for any racer or group. GEN-3 Electrical Ontario Modifieds Racing Series teams will kick-off the new season Saturday, May 27th at Peterborough Speedway.
This year’s OMRS opener will be the first of a handful of regular season dates at the venue known as Canada’s Toughest 3rd Mile Oval. For the first time in its history, the group will also have an appearance at the Autumn Colours Classic – Friday, October 6th – to wrap-up its 2023 schedule. Heading into the new campaign, hard-charging youngster Alex Cuzzilla carries the momentum of last year’s series championship into battle. Spokesperson Rick Warnes says teams will be bringing their ‘A’ game into battle as they chase the opening round win.
“Our racers and series officials are all looking forward to a strong season,” said Rick Warnes. “With the returnees and some new faces coming into the fold, there will be some solid car counts running under the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series banner. Being part of the rescheduled opening night – with free spectator grandstand admission – is a great way to get the ball rolling.”
Warnes says that teams in the OMRS fold will have plenty of time to fill their notebooks with Peterborough Speedway set-up information, as 3 of the groups first 4 races of the year are on the Central Ontario layout on Mount Pleasant Road. A Canada Day show – Saturday, July 1st at Flamboro Speedway – will follow the group’s opening round at Peterborough.
On the subject of Flamboro Speedway, the venerable facility near Hamilton, Ontario will be home to this year’s edition of the Bill Pickford Memorial race. The event – staged in tribute to long-time series co-founder and racer Bill Pickford – will be on the calendar Saturday, August 26th.
