Shawn Nye Wins Race Of Champions George Decker Memorial At Holland Int’l Speedway

Story By: RACE OF CHAMPIONS – HOLLAND, NY – Shawn Nye of Lancaster, N.Y., captured the George Decker Memorial this past Saturday night at Holland (N.Y.) International Speedway in the 52-lap Race of Champions Sportsman Modified Series event.

Nye took the lead early in the event and held off Andy Jankowiak from Tonawanda, N.Y., to score the victory.

“We had a great car tonight,” offered Nye in victory lane. “This is a great race for this division and we are very proud to capture the victory. I have to thank everyone involved with my team for getting us here.”

Jankowiak finished with George Skora of Eden, N.Y., finishing third. Scott Wylie from Blasdell, N.Y., finished 4th and Jake Lutz of Hamburg, N.Y., rounded out the top-five

Tommy Krawczyk of Orchard Park, N.Y., turned in a dominating performance to win the Rick Wylie Classic for the Race of Champions Super Stock Series.

Krawczyk was chased to the line by Andy Jankowiak.

Matt Druar of Clarence, N.Y, came home third to remain within striking distance of point leader Tommy Barron of Ontario, N.Y.

Tim Gullo of Elmira, N.Y., raced his way to fourth and Nick Robinson of Waverly, N.Y., finished fifth.

Robinson claimed the victory in the 32-lap Bob Palmer Classic for the Race of Champions FOAR Score Four Cylinder Dash Series. Bob Palmer of Buffalo, N.Y., finished 2nd. Andrew Lewis of Ontario, N.Y., finished third.

Joey Bevacqua of Rome, Pa., came home 4th and Charles Palmer of Cheektowaga, N.Y., rounded out the top-five.

The next race for the Race of Champions Modified family of Series are Friday night, September 2 at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, N.Y., with the running of the Maynard Troyer Classic III for the Race of Champions Modified Series and the Race of Champions Rocket Performance 602 Sportsman Modified Series while the Race of Champions of Sportsman Modified Series will take part in the Tribute to Teddy Appleton as part of the MTC III on Friday.
