Peterborough Speedway To Be Next Stop For The Ontario Modifieds Racing Series
Story By: JIM CLARKE / ONTARIO MODIFIEDS RACING SERIES – PETERBOROUGH, ONT – With the first of 3 events over the next 4 weekends, the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series, presented by GEN-3 Electrical spotlight shifts to Canada’s Toughest 3rd Mile Oval.
The popular open wheeled racing group will open the triple header stretch Saturday, August 13th as part of the year’s final Double Toonie/Fan Appreciation Night at Peterborough Speedway.
Series official and spokesperson Rick Warnes says these dates could play an important role in the 2022 OMRS championship chase.
“In many ways, it seems like the season has just started while in reality, we’re in the final stretch of the year,” said Rick Warnes. “Our teams have had a couple of weeks to fine-tune their equipment since the last event so they’re going to be ready for battle when the green waves this weekend. It also gives all the teams a chance to add some info to their set-up notes that could help during the upcoming Bill Pickford Memorial event.”
Following the Saturday, July 30th event at Flamboro Speedway, stats show close to 15 different drivers have scored points during this year’s Ontario Modifieds Racing Series events. Alex Cuzzilla – the 2019 OMRS rookie of the year – has a 31 point over current rookie of the year point leader Tyler Bouillon.
Chad Strawn, Rob Warnes and Ben Gruntz round-out the top 5 spots in the 2022 point standings.
