Story By: JIM CLARKE / ONTARIO MODIFIEDS RACING SERIES – PETERBOROUGH, ONT – After a short break in the schedule, teams with the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series will return to action Saturday, July 23rd at Canada’s Toughest 3rd Mile Oval.
From humble beginnings dating back to more than a dozen years ago, OMRS – presented by GEN-3 Electrical – has blossomed into one of the most respected touring groups in provincial short track asphalt racing. Since its inception, series officials have remained committed to providing a quality product for both fans and race teams in a cost-effective racing environment. Spokesperson Rick Warnes believes that attitude has helped keep the tour successful.
“Like most everyone else at this level of the sport, Ontario Modifieds Racing Series drivers do this as a hobby,” Rick Warnes explained. “We’re doing our best to keep cars on the track by making sure the costs associated with racing are in line with everyone’s budget. Our officials are also racers and they’re dealing with the same time and financial constraints as everyone else in the running order.
Warnes says that OMRS teams enjoy the events at the venue billed as Canada’s Toughest 3rd Mile Oval and are looking forward to the inaugural running of the Bill Pickford Memorial Saturday, August 20th.
