
Story By: RACE OF CHAMPIONS – NORTH EAST, PA – Race of Champions Late Model Series competitors will finally return to the track on Saturday, September 26 when the “Rick Wylie Classic” runs as part of Presque Isle Downs and Casino, Race of Champions Weekend in North East, Pa., at Lake Erie Speedway.
The race, a 48-lap event, will feature several special bonuses, in addition to the $1,250-to-win payoff.
The race will pay a guaranteed $2,000-to-win, with bonus money, being added. Fullone Trucking, Rick Wylie’s long time sponsor, will be adding $1,000 in bonus to be passed out post-race. Scott Wylie, Rick’s son, has collected $3,600 in lap money as well as arranged for the following bonuses to be distributed, GTR Promotions will award $250 to the team making the longest tow, a “Hard Charger” Award, posted by Joe Manko, Rich Littlefield and Gilbert Leroy Rosie, III of $320. Pete Sisti has posted a $100 bonus to the leader at halfway in the race. Ryan Hecht will be posting a $75 bonus to the fastest overall qualifier during the green-white-checkered qualifying session.
“This is going to be a event for our family,” offered Scott Wylie of Blasdell, N.Y., Rick Wylie’s oldest son, who currently competes in the Race of Champions Modified and Sportsman Series and was the 2018 Sportsman Series champion. “We are looking forward to a great day at Lake Erie, my Dad was a champion and we know we had to move the race from Holland this season due to the pandemic, so to have it as part of the Race of Champions weekend is really fitting. We are all looking forward to it.
