RPW Column By: JOHN DOUGLAS / RPW – NASCAR’s successful debut of the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series was a milestone for eSports, iRacing and television as well. With over 903,000 viewers according to the Nielsen ratings, the new record for most viewed eSports event and the most watched sporting event last Sunday it’s safe to say fans and the racing industry have gotten behind iRacing and eSports in a big way since the sudden shift in daily life began just over a week ago.
All involved look to expand on that success with today’s event at the virtual Texas Motor Speedway.
Drivers have been practicing all week long for the event. While some have chosen to keep their practices private, others have freely participated in open ‘hosted’ sessions in the iRacing simulator allowing fans to take to the track with some real life stars. Others have chosen to use internet streaming platforms like Twitch to broadcast their practice sessions to fans.
Unlike last week’s event. This week’s qualifier event for non-NASCAR Cup Series drivers to gain entry to the main race will be broadcasted via live stream on eNASCAR.com/live. Some entries include Stewart Friesen, Chase Briscoe, Justin Allgaier and many more.
The main event for the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series will air Live on FOX (in available markets), FOX Sports 1 and the FOX Sports app starting at 1pm eastern time.
