Column By: JOHN DOUGLAS / RPW – BOSTON, MA – iRacing and Podium eSports’ wildly successful race on Sunday has garnered support from fans to hold more of these events as the real world racing industry has all but ground to a halt. They have responded quickly to those calls for more racing and have decided in conjunction with Ryan Vargas to put together another event scheduled for this Thursday evening featuring the iRacing virtual NASCAR Truck Series machines.
In just an hour’s time 235 entry forms had been received for the event, and even NBC Sports Network took notice saying on social media, “The iRacing Chili Bowl… at Atlanta.”
The race quickly has expanded to include qualifying events ala the aforementioned Chili Bowl and extended to a two day event with Wednesday added as the event has grown.
No confirmed real world drivers have been named at this early stage, however don’t be surprised to see a few familiar names vy for their opportunity to race for their fans who are unable to enjoy racing’s real world counterpart.
Confirmed as the event sponsor is Filter Time. The company co-owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr.. Earnhardt Jr. has been a vocal proponent for the iRacing simulation since its inception.
