Story By: ASHLEY MCCUBBIN – MISSISAUGA, ONT. CA – As the days countdown until race season, Spencer-Walt Motorsports unveiled the No. 31 Limited Late Model for Rick Spencer-Walt this past weekend at the Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Expo.
A change in colors, the yellow takes you back to the days of when car owner Eldon Wallis began racing at Barrie Speedway. Once again, as in years past, the car was wrapped by Auto Trim Design. The scheme caught attention through the weekend with the team taking home one of the best appearing awards.
Spencer-Walt will be returning to Sunset Speedway in 2020 in hopes of going back-to-back after being crowned the 2019 Limited Late Model Track Champion. The team was also able to take home the 2019 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Provincial Championship.
Last season, Spencer-Walt picked up five wins and 16 top-five’s en route to the championship. He then scored the victory in both the Limited Late Model feature and Super Late Model feature at Fall Velocity.
It marks his second straight year as a track champion in Ontario, having won the 2018 Sauble Speedway Championship and 2018 Great Lakes Concrete Series Championship.
The Eldon Wallis owned team will receive sponsorship support this season from Gohydrovac.ca, Jim Wilson Chevrolet, Auto Trim Chevrolet, Byer’s Equipment Motorsports, Heidi’s RV Superstore, GreenSteelRoof.ca, Speedy Auto Glass Orillia, and Jordan Rooley of Scotiabank Bradford. Additional marketing partners will be revealed as we near closer to the season.
Spencer-Walt Motorsports also had Jake Spencer-Walt’s No. 31 Jr. Late Model on the display, as he gets set for his first full season of competition at Sunset Speedway. Many people inquired about the new division at Sunset and becoming involved, with Jake also picking up a best appearing award of his own.
Jake Spencer-Walt’s full list of marketing partners will be revealed as we near closer to the season, but current supporters include GreenSteelRoof.ca, B&B General Contracting, G.D. Coates Used Car Superstore, The Frame Shop, and Harding Construction.
