Story By: ASHLEY MCCUBBIN / FLAMBORO SPEEDWAY – HAMILTON, ONT. CA – The season may seem far away with the snow on the ground, but it’s in fact just two and a half months away. That’s why Flamboro Speedway is ready to meet and greet fans this weekend at the Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Expo as part of the Inside Track Racing Zone.
Throughout the show, staff will be available in the booth to talk about the track’s plans for the upcoming season and answer any questions that attendees may have. While you are there, you will also have the ability to pick up a copy of the schedule so you can know exactly what is going on this summer.
Flamboro Speedway will also be proudly displaying Billy Schwartzenburg’s No. 86 Spira Racing Late Model in the booth through the weekend. Schwartzenburg scored his first career APC Auto Parts United Late Models of Ontario Tour victory last season in July at Flamboro. He also finished third in the Grisdale Triple Crown Standings last year, too.
Fans of the speedway will also want to check out Jake Gilbert’s No. 03 Late Model which will be on display. Gilbert put a stellar rookie campaign together last season en route to placing sixth in the year-end standings with two top-five’s and 12 top-10’s.
There will be a lot of other things going on as well, as track announcer Gary Colling will be on the Stoneridge Stage interviewing different races throughout the weekend.
Lastly, a mustang mini stock will be built throughout the weekend. Spearheaded by Rich Schwartzenburg, the goal is to get young people engaged in building and working on racecars. Once the car is completed, it will be offered to future drivers as a chance to get some experience behind the wheel on a race night at Flamboro.
The build is part of the #race4trades program, which is set to encourage young people to get involved in trades. Throughout the weekend, Schwartzenburg and Colling will be featuring people who work in the trades, and they will be sharing their story and offering advice based on their experience.
Taking place from March 13 to the 15 at the International Center, the Motorama show features a bit of everything for both car and racing enthusiasts. From special show features, to guests, there is something for you to do throughout the duration of the event. Details on the show are available at http://www.motoramashow.com.
