Story By: KYLE SOUZA / NASCAR – STAFFORD SPRINGS, CT – The last two years of NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour competition have been filled with ups and downs for Chris Pasteryak, but Saturday, his smile told the story.
Pasteryak earned his first career Mayhew Tools Dominator Pole Award in qualifying ahead of Sunday’s NAPA Fall Final 150 at Stafford Motor Speedway.
Pasteryak, a Lisbon, Connecticut, native, posted a fast time of 18.515 seconds (97.218 mph) around the half-mile. He will lead the field to green in his 16th career Stafford start on Sunday. His previous best finish at Stafford is a third-place effort.
Doug Coby, who leads the Whelen Modified Tour championship standings by 21 points with two championship races remaining, qualified second. Coby’s time of 18.548 seconds (97.046 mph) was put down as one of the final laps of the group qualifying session.
Bobby Santos, who is coming off a victory at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in the Musket 250, qualified third, while Justin Bonsignore and Ron Silk completed the top five. Bonsignore is second to Coby in the standings entering the NAPA Fall Final 150.
Matt Swanson was sixth, followed by Timmy Solomito, Eric Goodale, Craig Lutz and Kyle Bonsignore.
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour returns to the track on Sunday afternoon, for the NAPA Fall Final 150. The race will air live on FansChoice.TV, and will also air on NBCSN on Friday, October 4, at 7 p.m.
