Story By: CAMDEN PROUD / OSWEGO SPEEDWAY – OSWEGO, NY – Brothers Brad and Bryan Haynes have again teamed up for more racing in Oswego Speedway’s Pathfinder Bank SBS class this season, both planning several starts in the family owned No. 86 car.
The Haynes brothers have competed at Oswego part-time in each of the past two seasons, with Brad recently returning to the seat of the family ride last year. It turned out to be the most successful season of his career.
“After a late start, I had a really good first night back last year,” Haynes said. “We finished fifth and third in the Twin 20’s putting myself on the podium for the first time at Oswego. We also got two podium runs at Evans Mills, so it was a great year.”
All in all, Haynes has had a very solid past two seasons of racing at the Oswego Speedway. In the five events he drove the No. 86 in 2018, Brad actually did not finish out of the top ten for a single one of them.
“We ended up having a total of three top five runs and two top tens including a ninth place finish in the Classic,” Haynes recalled. “Our No. 86 ran really well and the plan is to return this year with that same car.”
Once again, Haynes will be teaming up with car owner Ron Pratt and his brother Bryan. The brothers will split driving duties in the No. 86 Nichols Chassis with hopes to possibly bring back the Pratt No. 88 car for Bryan later in the season.
“Right now, we are busy working on some changes to the 88 car which is currently owned by Ron Pratt,” Haynes stated. “Bryan plans to run a handful of races in the No. 86 throughout that process and I will run the other shows.”
The car currently owned by Pratt is the former Classic winning Hedger Chassis which Bryan took to a surprise victory in the 2015 Bud Light Classic 75. Brad, who found great speed with the faithful family mount last season, hopes to add his name next to his brother’s on the SBS win list this year.
“I’m looking forward to teaming up with my brother again and will really be searching hard for my first win,” offered Haynes. “I would love to be able to say both Haynes brothers visited victory lane at Oswego Speedway.”
Oswego Speedway’s 69th season of racing opens on Saturday, May 25 with Jim Shampine Memorial Twin 50’s for the Novelis Supermodifieds, the Tony White Memorial 35 for the Pathfinder Bank SBS and a 35-lap Memorial Weekend Special for the 350 Supermodifieds.
