Story By: SCOTT RUNNING / STAFFORD MOTOR SPEEDWAY – STAFFORD SPRINGS, CT – Olson Apartments of Feeding Hills, MA have renewed their commitment to Stafford Speedway’s SK Light contingency program for the 2019 season.
Entering their third consecutive season as a contingency partner, Olson Apartments will provide a weekly $75 bonus to the third place finisher in each SK Light feature event this season. Stafford’s SK Light drivers will have 22 opportunities during the 2019 season to take home the Olson Apartments bonus.
“We’ve enjoyed supporting local short track racing at Stafford the last few years and we’re looking forward to doing it again in 2019,” said Mark Olson, Owner of Olson Apartments. “By supporting the SK Lights, I’m trying to support drivers who are getting started. I’ve always loved the modifieds and I figure there’s less money in the SK Lights than in the SK Modified® division, so this gives the drivers all a little extra something to shoot for. We can’t wait for the season to get started.”
“We’re excited to welcome Olson Apartments back to the SK Light contingency program for the 2019 season,” said Stafford General Manager Mark Arute. “It’s thanks to great partners like Olson Apartments that we’re able to offer a contingency program and put extra money back into our competitor’s hands. We hope to continue the relationship with Olson Apartments for many more years.”
Olson Apartments serves the Agawam and West Springfield areas with efficiency 1 and 2 bedroom apartments and have been offering “Professional Service With A Personal Touch” since 1977. “We offer efficiency as well as 1 and 2 bedroom apartments in the Agawam and Springfield areas,” said Olson. “Please give me a call at 413-786-6462 to discuss details and availability or check the website.”
Stafford’s SK Light division will have a new look in 2019 with a mix of veteran and rookie drivers alike. Marcello Rufrano and Andrew Molleur, who won a combined 10 of 21 races last season, have both moved up to the SK Modified® division, but there are 5 feature winners from last season who are returning with Mark Bakaj, Joey Ferrigno, Teddy Hodgdon, Bryan Narducci, and Alexander Pearl. There is also a robust rookie crop of over 10 drivers including Nick Anglace, Steven Chapman, Anthony Forino, Noah Korner, Sami Anderson, Chris Bagnall, Alina Bryden, Jonathan Puleo, Eric Bourgeois, and Joe McCarthy. With such a mix of veteran and rookie drivers, it’s anyone’s guess as to who will be taking home wins this season and should make for another exciting season of open wheel action.
“I’m always excited to see who’s coming back and who is going to be in new rides,” said Olson. “I like to see different winners so the contingency gets spread around and I really enjoy being able to support local short track racing through this contingency award. As a contingency sponsor it’s great for me to be able to walk through the pit area and talk face to face with the drivers and it’s always fun keeping track of who is winning our contingency award each week.”
The first Olson Apartments contingency bonus of the 2019 season will be up for grabs during Stafford Speedway’s 48th Annual NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler.
