Story By: CAMDEN PROUD / ISMA – OSWEGO, NY – The International Supermodified Association will again be present at this year’s Syracuse Motorsports Expo held at the New York State Fairgrounds on Saturday, March 9 and Sunday, March 10.
Schedules and information in regards to ISMA’s 2019 campaign will be available to fans and Jason Simmons Racing will also have their winged Supermodified on hand as part of the display.
The No. 98T Super was driven last season by rookie of the year, Tyler Thompson. In his first season racing with the tour, the 17 year old competed at four different circuits, including in the World Series at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park where he picked up his first career top five finish.
Thompson and car owner Jason Simmons plan to enter several ISMA events throughout the course of the upcoming season including at Monadnock Speedway on June 29, the Sandusky Speedway Hy-Miler on July 26 and 27, and more.
For 33 years, the Syracuse Motorsports Expo has annually kicked off race season in the Northeast. The 2019 edition of the show will be held in the Fairgrounds’ Center of Progress Building.
Admission to this year’s Motorsports Expo will be $13 for adults, $5 for kids 6-12 years of age, and FREE for children under the age of five. A two day pass is also available for $20. Expo hours will be 10am to 8pm on Saturday and 11am to 4pm on Sunday.
In addition to the Motorsports Expo, the 2019 Indoor Auto Racing Championship will come to a close at the same location on the same weekend. For the first time ever, the TQ Midgets will converge inside the new Exposition Center as part of the inaugural Syracuse Indoor Race. Racing will commence on Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9.
A handful of current and former ISMA Supermodified competitors are expected to be in the field including Thompson, Lou Cicconi, and Joey Payne.
Lane Racing ISMA Supermodified Part of Mark’s Northeast Motorsports Expo Next Weekend
In addition to participating in the Syracuse Motorsports Expo, the International Supermodified Association will also have a car on hand as part of Mark’s Northeast Motorsports Expo, held next weekend March 8, 9 and 10 at the Eastern States Exposition, Better Living Center in Springfield, M.A.
ISMA information pertaining to the 2019 season, including the series’ schedule will be available, and the Lane Racing No. 97 Supermodified, owned by Howie Lane and driven last year by Tim Jedrzejek, will be on display.
Jedrzejek, a veteran of Supermodified racing, drove the car to two victories last season first in the Hy-Miler ‘Fast 40’ at Sandusky Speedway and later in the Bud Light ISMA Supernationals 60 at the Oswego Speedway. Including the two victories, ‘Timmy J’ raced to seven top ten runs in nine ISMA events throughout 2018.
Mark’s Northeast Motorsports Expo is one of the biggest car shows in the New England area. Classic cars, custom cars and trucks, rat rods, imports and tuners, motorcycles, exotics, race cars, off-road vehicles, special interest vehicles, trucks, new car displays and more will be on hand as part of the three day long event.
Spectator admission is set at $15 for adults while all children age 7 and under will be admitted FREE. There will also be free show entrance for anyone wearing an active service uniform for any branch of the military.
The show will run from 4pm to 8pm on Friday, March 8, 10am to 8pm on Saturday, March 9, and 10am to 3pm on Sunday, March 10 at the Big-E Eastern States Exposition Fairgrounds in West Springfield.
