Column By: JESSY MILLER / RPW – FORT WORTH, TX – Kevin Harvick’s Texas weekend was a special one.
He won his 8th race this season which locks him into the championship four for Homestead. This 8th win also ties him with Bobby Allison for the most wins in one season for a driver over forty.
Harvick lead one hundred and seventy-seven laps of the three hundred sixty-five lap race. The driver of the Stewart-Has Racing number four car had to battle it out with Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney for two restarts at the end of the race to make it happen.
To top it all off at the flag-stand Harvick picked up a kid from the grandstands and brought him down onto the track with him. He took a picture on track, in front of the four car with the kid and then put him back in the stands. Once Harvick had the checkered flag he sought the same kid out once more to give him the flag.

While Chatting with Rutledge Wood at the start-finish line Harvick said, “The expectations are to win. We don’t race for points, we race for wins.”
No more points counting for .
Not that he was, anyway. The team is here to win.

So far Joey Logano and Kevin Harvick are locked into the final four. Next weekend’s elimination race will decide who gets to join the hunt for the 2018 Monster Energy Cup Series Racing championship trophy. The other contenders include (Not necessarily in this order) Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr., Chase Elliott, Clint Bowyer and Aric Almirola.
Harvick might not have had his wife DeLana and their son Keelan with him this weekend but he certainly wasn’t celebrating in Victory Lane alone. Along with the entire four team, Stewart-Haas Racing team owners Tony Stewart and Gene Haas were both there to celebrate with Harvick Sunday afternoon.
The gang’s all here! @TonyStewart and Gene Haas on hand to celebrate @KevinHarvick‘s victory at @TXMotorSpeedway. 🙌
