Story By: DAN KAPUSCINSKI / TEAM TAPOUT RACING – OSWEGO, NY – Tyler Thompson continues to climb Oswego Speedway’s Novelis Supermodified point standings after scoring his fourth top ten finish of the season on Saturday night at The Steel Palace.
Thompson qualified eighth fastest in time trials on Saturday with his fastest lap of the season at 16.556-seconds before again locking into a handicap qualifying position in his heat race with a fourth-place effort.
Come feature time, Thompson again held his own by driving to a fine seventh place finish in the 50-lap finale behind the wheel of his No. 98 trailing Otto Sitterly, Dave Shullick Jr., Michael Barnes, Keith Shampine, Brandon Bellinger and Dan Connors Jr.
This season’s consistent effort from Thompson and team sees the No. 98 now standing seventh in the overall Novelis Supermodified Driver’s Championship with 545-points, just 53-points from a top five position.
At the midway point of the season, Thompson also holds a 196-point lead in this year’s Rookie of the Year standings.
Thompson returns to Oswego this Saturday, July 14 for another 50-lap feature event, presented by C’s Beverage Center of Oswego.
