Mother Nature Nixes Wall Stadium Again; Banner Night Returns On July 11th
COLUMN BY: WALL STADIUM – WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ – Due to the forecast for rain showers on and off throughout Saturday, Wall Stadium management has been forced to postpone Napa Night Presented by VanWickle Auto Supply and the Party in the Pits to a later date.
“This is easily one of the hardest calls to make,” Wall Stadium Director of Racing Operations Pete Maletto.
“Opening our gates is a huge financial commitment to our staff, drivers, and fans. With a critical wind direction shift hitting our area around 2:00 PM, possibly bringing dense fog and an increased threat of thunderstorms, the risk is simply too high. Compounding the issue is the extreme humidity. If it rains even a little, the track surface will be more difficult to dry, delaying things further.”
“While the data shows things clearing out much later tonight, it will just be too big of a risk to take. The weather forecasters can’t even seem to get an accurate decision either
This marks our fifth rainout of the season and sixth cancellation overall. To say we are gutted is an understatement. We hate losing track time just as much as you do, but we have to protect the safety of our teams, our fans, and the long-term operations of our historic facility.”
Wall Stadium will be dark next Saturday in observance of the July 4th holiday but will be back in action on Saturday night, July 11th with Banner Night.
Race fans are encouraged to create a banner supporting their favorite Wall Stadium banner which will be judged during intermission. Banner night rules are available on the Wall Stadium website and Facebook page.
The NASCAR Modifieds will headline the night along with the NASCAR Sportsman, O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stocks and the Surf Side Collision 4-Cylinders. The Factory Stocks will also make up their rained out feature from Saturday night June 6th.
Pit gates open at 1pm, grandstands at 3pm with racing beginning at 6pm. Adults (18+) are $25, Seniors (62+) and Military w/ID are $20, Children (7-17) are $15 with kids 6 and under being FREE!
Saturday night, July 18th will feature the Hall of Fame 100 for the NASCAR Modifieds which will see a number of Wall Stadium legends from yesteryear signing autographs and meeting fans throughout the night. Also in competition on July 18th will be the ATQMRA TQ Midgets, O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stocks and the Surf Side Collision 4-Cylinders.
