When the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series rolled onto the front stretch at Seekonk Speedway Saturday, the familiar names of Matt Hirschman, Jon McKennedy, and Patrick Emerling were among the top 5 starters. Though, there was an unfamiliar name on the front row, that was Chase Grennan, the 18 year old from Glen Cove, New York.
Grennan and his team made the trip up from Long Island, and made his first start ever with the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series. Grennan enjoyed his first time racing with the series. Grennan battled all race long in the top 5, battling much of the race with Jon McKennedy for 2nd place. Grennan would come away with a strong 3rd place finish in his first start with the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series.
“It was pretty amazing. To run up front with Hirschman and McKennedy and a slew of great drivers that were behind us there,” Grennan explains “it was really amazing for us.”
Grennan is a regular at Riverhead Raceway, racing in the Buzz Chew Chevrolet Tour Type Modifieds, where he finished 3rd in the championship standings this year, with 3 wins to his credit.
“It was a whole lot different from home. You know, this place is really circular, but I knew that coming into it about saving tires,” the young Grennan says “we’re used to having to save tires a lot at home in the weekly division. So I think that played into our advantage. We were really good on the long runs.”
In the final portions of the USNEPower Haunted Hundred XL, Grennan was battling hard for a podium finish against the eventual 2025 Monaco Modified champion, Jon McKennedy.
“I was trying my best. I had power steering cutting in and out, I was really trying my best to keep it under control,” Grennan explains “but I think we could have had something for McKennedy there, but this place is difficult to pass, and I’m still there. We’ll take our third place and go back home.”
Asked Grennan if the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series would be a series he would come chase in 2026 possibly.
“That’s really difficult for us. We’re from Long Island. It’s a long trip to the tracks that they run, but we would definitely love to. It’s a great series,” Grennan says, “they do great things. Great people as well. So we would love to, but. I don’t know if it’s in the cards right now, but we’ll work on it this offseason. We will see.”
