Brighton Speedway To Host Applefest Shootout And Close Out Race Of Champions Dirt 602 Sportsman Modified Season
Column By: RACE OF CHAMPIONS MEDIA – BRIGHTON, ON – The Race of Champions Dirt 602 Sportsman Modified Series will make its highly anticipated debut at Brighton Speedway during the prestigious AppleFest Shootout weekend, presented by Coca-Cola, Hoosier Tire, and ImageFactor, on Friday, September 26, and Saturday, September 27, 2025.
This year’s AppleFest Shootout will not only serve as one of Ontario’s premier fall racing traditions, but also as the season finale for the Dirt 602 Sportsman Modified Series.
Cody McPherson of St. Catharines, Ontario, leads the championship standings heading into the weekend on the strength of two victories at Ohsweken Speedway earlier this season. McPherson and the rest of the competitive field will now face the challenge of Brighton’s fast, racy oval for the very first time in Series history.
“This is a special opportunity to bring the Series to Brighton for the AppleFest Shootout,” stated Race of Champions management. “The Shootout is one of the region’s signature dirt racing weekends, and to crown our champion here for the first time only adds to the excitement.”
The Race of Champions Dirt Sportsman Modified Series, launched in 2025, mirrors the Sportsman rules package used across the Northeast, ensuring a competitive and level playing field for all teams. Fans can expect tight racing, drama in the championship battle, and a weekend that delivers on the Shootout’s reputation as a true fall classic.
