Weekend Weather for NASCAR at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Local Short Tracks
RPW Exclusive Column By: Stephen Durham / RPW – LOUDON, NH –
It has been since 2017 when NASCAR last visited New Hampshire Motor Speedway in September. The weather forecast for this weekend is looking perfect, and fall-like for racing at the “Magic Mile”, and surrounding local race tracks in New Hampshire. Whether you will be at Lee USA Speedway Friday night, just south of Loudon in Lee, New Hampshire for the Granite State Pro Stock Series, or Saturday night at White Mountain Motorsports Park, the weather looks fantastic.

Friday September 19th:
A cold front will be shifting southward Friday morning, with high pressure building in from Canada through the day. This will lead to north/northwest winds, which could be breezy at times. Any morning clouds will be clearing through the day Friday, but a few clouds will be possible. Temperatures during the day Friday will likely get into the low to mid 60s, before then falling Friday night.
Bring a sweatshirt and maybe even a blanket if you’ll be in the grandstands at the New Hampshire dirt track or down at Lee USA Speedway, but the weather will be fantastic for a little extra horsepower. Temperatures Friday night will fall down into the 40s across much of New Hampshire, with a few location possibly down into the 30s by early Saturday morning.

Saturday September 20th:
Saturday morning will be a brisk start to the day, but that is okay, the NASCAR Whelen Modifieds will warm us up at 9:30am, as they take the green flag for the Mohegan Sun 100. Winds will be lighter compared to Friday across the area.
Expecting mostly clear skies through the day on Saturday, temperatures will be rising, but will be a fall-like day across New Hampshire. The high temperature for the day Saturday will likely get to around 60, possibly into the lower 60s briefly. For the start of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, temperatures will hover around 60 through the duration of the race, then gradually fall as the sun gets lower.
Heading through the afternoon and into Saturday evening, temperatures will begin to gradually fall back again, with another chance for brisk and cool temperatures Saturday night. Widespread temperatures down into the 40s for much of New Hampshire, with a few valley locations likely down into the 30s again. It will be a crisp evening up in the White Mountains, but expect top notch racing at White Mountain Motorsports Park. The weather remains dry overnight and into Sunday morning.

Sunday September 21st:
Then for Sunday, it looks like a beautiful day for racing. In comparison, the last time the Cup Series raced in September, the green-flag temperature in 2017 was in the upper 80s. This year, temperatures will likely be in the 60s.
It will be a cool and crisp morning for those early risers and getting to the track for tailgating on Sunday. Temperatures will be rising through the day and into the afternoon. Expecting the high temperature Sunday afternoon to be into the mid 60s with mostly clear skies. A light south/southwest wind will be expected. High clouds will be increasing later Sunday evening, but overall, remaining dry and beautiful through the end of the weekend.
