Jesse Bearup Bags Second Career Fast Time For Bud Light SBS Classic

Column By: Camden Proud / OSWEGO SPEEDWAY – OSWEGO, NY – Four-time Pathfinder Bank SBS feature winner Jesse Bearup put his stamp on time trials Friday afternoon at Oswego Speedway, driving the No. 37 to his second career JP Jewelers $200 Fast Time Award for the 34th annual Pathfinder Bank SBS Bud Light Classic 60.

The Redwood, NY driver turned in a blistering lap of 18.565 seconds, adding to an impressive résumé that also includes the Crate Engine Track Record at Oswego Speedway, set at 18.436 seconds with the team’s homebuilt car.

Last year’s fast qualifier and defending champion, Shaun Gosselin, wasn’t far behind. Wheeling the GO Racing No. 29, Gosselin clocked in at 18.681 seconds, good for the JP Jewelers $100 second fast time award.

Veteran Dan Kapuscinski guided the renumbered No. 00 Flack Racing machine to third with an 18.723, while Florida’s Andy Jodway timed fourth in the No. 1 at 18.744. Rounding out the top five was Ratcliff Racing’s Drew Pascuzzi in the No. 72, who posted an 18.755.

The top 16 drivers dipped under the 19-second bracket, certainly showcasing the speed and competitiveness of this year’s SBS Classic field.

After qualifications, Bearup drew an inversion pill of eight, meaning the top eight cars are inverted for Sunday’s 60-lap Bud Light SBS Classic. That will place Bearup starting outside row four, while Gosselin will line up inside row four. Noah Ratcliff and Greg O’Connor will lead the field to green from the front row
