Gluchacki Making Best of Wild Card for Kulwicki Driver Development Program Points
Column By: Stephen Durham / RPW – OXFORD, M.E. – Derek Gluchacki had a very strong run to kick-off Oxford 250 Weekend at Oxford Plains Speedway. With the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour, for the Yvon Bedard 109, Gluchacki nearly maximized the amount of points for the Wild Card for the Kulwicki Driver Development Program.
After starting 14th, Gluchacki made his forward quickly, making his way into the top 5 by the mid-point of the race of the 109 lap event.
Gluchacki wishes he had a better restart position late in the race, before coming home 2nd.
“We were in a vulnerable spot on the restarts, and the outside just wasn’t really there to pass for the lead,” Gluchacki explains “I needed to restart 3rd, but it just didn’t play out the way I needed it to be.”
Gluchacki says it feels great to kick off the Oxford 250 Weekend with this strong run.
“We’re on a good stretch right now, with a few podium finishes, we’re happy about that for the team, and all my guys are working hard for this, so it feels good,” Gluchacki says, “super thankful, and hopefully we can do one spot better tomorrow.”
For the Wild Card Weekend towards the Kulwicki Driver Development Program, Gluchacki says it was a great way to double up on points.
“It’s great, I’m kicking myself a little bit. I wish I would have used another one for tomorrow,” Gluchacki says, “but just part of it, but hopefully we just get up front tomorrow, and be one spot better.”
The American-Canadian Tour will go 125 laps Saturday afternoon for their Oxford 250 Weekend, with racing getting underway at 4PM. If you can’t be there, you can watch live on RacingAmerica.
