Oxford 250 Weekend Weather Outlook, Plenty of Sun and Warmth
Column By: Stephen Durham / RPW – OXFORD, M.E – It has been a year of battles with the weather across the Northeast and New England, as Mother Nature has played a role in many race weekends. For the ACT Tour, Saturday looks like a beautiful warm Saturday, with a fair weather day shaping up for the PASS Tour on Sunday as well. As an avid race fan and meteorologist, I am always rooting for the beautiful warm weather days for racing, so here is my forecast outlook for the weekend.

Friday August 22nd:
Friday is shaping up to be a beautiful day at Oxford Plains Speedway, as high pressure will be moving across the region, leading to fair weather and mostly clear skies for the day. A few fair weather clouds will be possible during the afternoon, with afternoon temperatures likely getting into the lower 80’s. Winds will be light from the north/northeast through the day and into Friday night.
Friday night into Saturday morning will remain pleasant, with temperatures falling down into the upper 50s across the area. Remaining mostly clear overnight into Saturday morning.
Saturday August 23rd:
Saturday will be fairly similar to Friday, just as beautiful, possibly a little warmer across the area. High pressure remains overhead, shifting off the East Coast, leading to winds shift towards the southwest during the day Saturday. Winds will remain light out of the south/southwest through the day Saturday into Saturday evening. Temperatures during the day will get into the lower 80s across the area. A few afternoon clouds will be possible for the area.
For the evening, temperatures will begin to fall back towards the 70s towards sunset, but remaining likely another beautiful night for racing. For temperatures overnight, they will eventually fall to the 60s, but likely remain slightly warmer overnight into Sunday morning across the region.
Sunday August 24th:
For Sunday, it will be a fair weather day, but will be monitoring a cold front moving into the region. During the day, clouds will likely be increasing later in the morning and into the afternoon. Temperatures will be rising through the day, likely into the upper 70s, to possibly the low 80s. If skies remain mostly clear, expect temperatures to be on the warmer end. Winds remain out of the south/southwest, possibly a little breezier than Friday/Saturday.
As racing gets going Sunday afternoon, clouds will be increasing, but likely remaining dry for the majority of daylight on Sunday. I think any chances for isolated or scattered showers increases likely after 6-7PM on Sunday, but the chance remains really low. The best chance for any rain showers won’t arrive until very late, around or after midnight Sunday night.
