RPW Exclusive: Power Rankings of the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series
Column By: STEPHEN DURHAM / RPW – BOSTON, MA – We are heading into August, and the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series prepares for another round of racing at Star Speedway this weekend, and then head down New London-Waterford Speedbowl later in August.
It was Matt Hirschman picking up the victory back in late June at Seekonk, going back-to-back from last year. The series then headed to Stafford Speedway, with a stout field of competitors on hand in the middle of July. The front-row for the GAF Roofing Modified Masters was one of the best modified drivers in New England, in Ryan Preece, and the young hot-shoe of Jake Johnson. The two would battle hard through much of the event, but it was the young blood of Jake Johnson prevailing, taking home the white jacket, and being named the GAF Modified Master. The championship fight is heating up as we head into August, with the top 5 in the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series, separated by 62 points. Johnson, who has an impressive winning percentage on the season, McKennedy leads the championship fight though, but has yet to find victory lane in 2025. Here is the RacePro Weekly power rankings as we head into August.
- Jon McKennedy (previous rank: 1): McKennedy continues to pace the field in the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series, as he continues to lead the championship standings heading to Star Speedway. McKennedy picked up a top 5 and a top 10 between Seekonk and Stafford Speedway. On the season so far, McKennedy has five top 5’s, six top 10’s to his credit. McKennedy holds a 39 point lead over Ronnie Williams currently in 2nd. McKennedy will look to hold that lead as the series heads to Star, where he has won in the super-modified before, and finished 12th at in 2024.
- Jake Johnson (previous: 2): Jake Johnson has made four starts on the season with the Monaco Modifieds, and he is now 2 for 4 in wins. Picking up the white jacket after battling up front for the GAF Roofing Modified Masters all race long, taking home the win over a stout field. Johnson has four top 5’s in all four starts as well with the series, sitting currently 5th in the championship standings, 62 points back from points leader McKennedy. Johnson will be a threat to win again at Star Speedway, where he has won twice, 2023 and 2022, and also had one top 5 at Waterford in the two visits that season.
- R. Williams (previous: NR): It was a very strong showing for Ronnie Williams at Seekonk and Stafford, coming home with a top 10 at Seekonk, and runner-up behind Johnson at Stafford. Williams earned his first top 5 at Stafford, added with his five top 10’s. Leading to him being currently 2nd in the championship standings behind McKennedy. Williams will be looking to close the gap in August at Star and Waterford, both places where he has had strong runs. Williams finished 10th in 2024 at Star, and had a top 5 finish at Waterford the last time the series visited in 2023.
- Chris Pasteryak (previous: 5): It was a tale of two tapes for Pasteryak between Seekonk and Stafford. At Seekonk, Pasteryak came away with another top 5 finish, coming from a 14th place starting position. Stafford, a different story, as he would come from the consi, and start 29th, and come home with a disappointing 25th place finish. 2025 though has been a strong year for Pasteryak, Seekonk, his first top 5 of the season, added with five top 10’s, leads to him sitting 3rd in the championship standings, 10 points behind Williams. Pasteryak will look to regain momentum at Star, finishing 11th last September, and a top 10 at Waterford in 2023.
- Austin Beers (previous rank: 3): Seekonk and Stafford was a tough go for the young hot-shoe, finishing outside the top 15 in both races. Beers was collected in an early race incident at Seekonk, ending his night early. Beers sits 6th in the championship standings, 3 points behind Jake Johnson in 5th, and 65 points back from championship points leader McKennedy. Beers last visited Star Speedway with the Monaco Modifieds back in 2022, coming away with a top 10 finish. Expect Beers to turn it around as we head into August.
On the Radar: Matt Hirschman: The defending 2025 Monaco Modified champion remains hot at Seekonk Speedway, defending his win from last fall. Hirschman followed up his win at Seekonk with a top 5 finish at Stafford. Expect Hirschman to continue to claw his way back towards the championship standings, currently sitting 14th, but in his three races, he has three top 5’s and his win at Seekonk. Hirschman has won the last three visits to New London-Water Speedbowl, winning last year, and sweeping both races in 2023.
The Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series heads back to New Hampshire this weekend at Star Speedway in Epping, New Hampshire for the RaceChoice.com 125. This is the series’ 7th race of the 12 race schedule for 2025. Racing starts at 5:00PM at Star Speedway, on Saturday, August 2nd. After Seekonk, the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series heads to New London-Waterford Speedbowl on August 23rd for the Belltown Motors/Fowler’s Auto Wrecking 100.
