Evergreen Raceway Hosting Five Divisions of Racing This Sunday
Story By: DINO OBERTO / EVERGREEN RACEWAY – BUTLER TOWNSHIP, PA – Evergreen Raceway is back in action this coming Sunday, August 3 with an exciting five division program asphalt racing. Race time is 2:00 pm.
On the card will be the 602 Crate Modifieds, Late Models, Himmer Graphics Four Cylinders, Rotten-and-Forgotten plus Legends cars.
When the 602 Crate Modifieds last raced it was under the lights on Saturday, July 5 which saw Micah Adams score his second win of the season and in doing so re-took the points lead from Steve Shultz, but not by much as only three markers separate them heading into Sunday’s races.
While those two maintain the top two rankings, not to be overlooked is just how close the rest of the class has been this year and that will be more than likely come race day.
In the Late Models Nick Ross has put together a string of impressive finishes with two runner-ups and back-to-back victories which, for obvious reasons, has him sitting number one in the standings.
However, Marc Aigledinger has been second to Ross in the past two races and is showing that he is clearly on the verge of his first win. Aside from them the field of Late Models has proved to be solid from top to bottom.
Coming off a big victory in the Four Cylinders is Rebecca Barbush and by doing so really shook things up between the top two headliners thus far, TJ Kapish and Michael Wambold. And also nipping at the heels of the two top point-getters is Robert McNulty, Caitlyn Makarewicz and Tyler Skordensky.
In what can be deemed as the most thrilling race of not only this season arguably overall was the most recent event with the Rotten-and-Forgotten when Josh Young held off Dan Jensen in lead-swapping duel virtually all race long and saw Young collect his first win afterwards.
The Legends return to Evergreen on Sunday and as is always the case fans will be in for a highly competitive feature from this group of evenly matched racers.
Sunday adult grandstand admission is $15, seniors $13 and kids 12 and under free.
Pits will open at 10:30 am. Pit admission is $40 per person. Warm-up will begin with racing at 12:30 with racing commencing at 2:00 pm.
