Tour Type Modifieds Next Up At Shangri-La II Speedway, $3000-To-Win 50 Lap Feature Set For July 27th

Story By: DINO OBERTO – TIOGA CENTER, NY – The re-opening of Shangri-La II Speedway has seen some very good shows in the first two events held. Sportsman Modifieds have headlined the action along with Super Stocks, 4-Cylinder Stocks and Hobby Stocks, all putting on competitive racing and from the drivers’ standpoint all have given positive feedback.
The next race day is slated for Sunday July 27, and it will be one that many have penciled on their calendar when the 2025 schedule was released. That afternoon the Tour Type Modifieds will make a return to the “Concrete Castle” for the first time in a decade.
In the two Sportsman Modified features, Nick Morich won both races but not to be overshadowed was how close the competition among all participants was being contested. Those results indicate that the track continues to facilitate competitive racing, suggesting that the Tour Type Modifieds are also likely to deliver a similar, high-level of competition.
It will be a 50-lap/$3000-to-win feature.
“We’re really getting pumped up for the return of the Tour Type Mods especially after seeing how well the Sportsman Mods have run and the racing they put on in the first two events,” said promoter Jason Makarewicz.
“We’ve gotten a lot of positive comments from all our drivers thus far, and that’s led to a lot of interest from the Tour Type Mod guys as well. I know they will put on a great show for our fans and we’re really looking forward to this one.”
There is a $55 pre-registration for the Modifieds for this race which covers the transponder fee and pit entrance and, more so, will help to have an adequate supply of tires available.
This is a four (4) tire race, and it is imperative to reach out to either Jason Makarewicz or Rob Babula about tires.
“The reason for the Modified pre-registration is to simply let us know who is coming and we want to have enough of a tire supply on hand,” added Makarewicz.
To pre-register or any other questions or concerns please call Jason at 570-956-6347 or email: Evergreenraceway@gmail.com. For information on just tires contact Ron at 570-401-4174.
The Super Stocks, 4-Cylinder Stocks and Hobby Stocks will also be on the Sunday afternoon lineup.
On Saturday, July 26, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm an open practice session will be held. Pit admission for open practice is $25 per person and grandstands are free.
Afterwards there will be a pit party hosted by the track that includes live music by the band Audio Active.
Sunday pit admission is $45, for all ages. Adult grandstand admission is $20, kids 12 and under are free. Pits will open at 10:00 am, racing begins at 1:00 pm. Grandstands open at noon.
Additional information on the July 27 race will be forthcoming.
