Story By: RACE OF CHAMPIONS – ELMA, NY – Race of Champions management has confirmed updates regarding the 35th Annual Tribute to Tommy Druar and Tony Jankowiak 110, scheduled for Friday, July 11, 2025, at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, N.Y.

The lap fund for this year’s event was originally organized by Laurie Coccionitti prior to her passing from cancer on December 31, 2024. However, it was recently discovered—through indirect communication and without official notice—that the originally planned lap fund monies would not be distributed with the 35trh annual race – originally scheduled for August of 2024 – and were instead redirected to the 36th Annual running this coming August 16, 2025 at Lancaster (N.Y.) Motorplex, despite previous promotional efforts indicating otherwise.

Due to the late nature of this discovery and the impossibility of reconstructing the original lap program, the Druar and Skotnicki families have stepped up to ensure the legacy of the race remains strong. Mickey Druar has committed $2,200 in lap fund contributions, while her son, Matt Druar, will support the event through his Thirty-7 Pit Products brand. Race of Champions, Joe Skotnicki will also contribute additional bonus monies totaling up to $1,000.

As a result, the event will now pay $600 to start and $5,073.73 to win. The prestigious $113 Ted Christopher Award will also be presented to the driver who advances the most positions during the first 13 laps of the 110-lap feature.

“Situations like this are unfortunate and put people in difficult positions due to a lack of communication,” stated Joe Skotnicki, Race of Champions. “Once an event is advertised in a particular manner, the expectation is that it will be delivered accordingly. Thankfully, we have families like the Druars’s who are committed to supporting the sport and honoring its traditions.”

Skotnicki added: “This race marks the 35th annual running. It was scheduled twice in 2024—once originally and again as a reschedule in October. The track originally hosting the race could not reschedule the race in 2025, so we, through our lease at Spencer Speedway chose to honor the family’s request to host the event, another reschedule of the event in 2025. As a result, the 35th annual will take place at Spencer Speedway to respect and fulfill the Druar and Jankowiak families’ wishes. Nothing more, nothing less. The 36th annual will take place at Lancaster Motorplex in August.”

Over the years, the Tribute to Tommy Druar and Tony Jankowiak has been held at a variety of venues including Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pa., during the COVID pandemic, and Holland (N.Y.) Speedway.
