Griffin Miller To Chase Dual Championships At Oswego In ’25; 350 Supermods & Super Stocks

Story By: CAMDEN PROUD / OSWEGO SPEEDWAY – OSWEGO, NY – Fresh off a solid rookie campaign in Oswego Speedway’s 350 Supermodified division, Griffin Miller has set his sights high for 2025 – eyeing not one, but two championships at the Steel Palace.

The 22-year-old Miller will return to Oswego full-time in 350 Supermodified competition after a promising debut season in 2024, which saw him score six top-five finishes in seven feature starts, including a strong fourth-place run in the 350 Classic. He also claimed his first career heat win in the division.

“We didn’t have super high expectations never running a Super before,” Miller admitted. “We learned a lot about the car and got it dialed in really well during Classic. It’s a whole different animal from SBS or Super Stocks.”

Despite limited experience, Miller scored a pair of podiums – finishing 2nd and 3rd – in the 350 Supermodified division and was a top rookie contender before an engine failure in July derailed his campaign and ended Rookie of the Year hopes. While sidelined from the 350, Griffin made the most of his time off by jumping behind the wheel of the Ratcliff Racing No. 73 SBS on July 20. Starting in 11th, he charged through the field to the second feature win of his career in the Pathfinder Bank SBS division. He also spent time competing in the Super Stock. After a few weeks away, Miller returned to the 350 ranks determined, finishing fourth on Championship Night and again in the 350 Classic just a couple of weeks later.

“It was a tough break when the engine let go, but I’m grateful for the opportunity from Ratcliff Racing. To get the win in that car was incredible,” Miller said.

On Classic Weekend, Miller also competed in the prestigious Dave London Memorial for Super Stocks, where he spent much of the race in the top five before finishing in 8th.

For 2025, the third-generation driver will go after a full 350 Supermodified schedule at Oswego and will run a busy Super Stock slate across western and Central New York, of course including the inaugural GTR Super Stock Championship Series at Oswego. The four-race series features events on June 14 (25-laps), August 2 (Twin 20’s), and the 50-lap Dave London Memorial XVII on Friday, August 29.

“I’m really excited about the Super Stock championship. It’s cool and it needed to happen,” said Miller. “The car counts have been really strong for the specials, and points will bring even more people out of the woodwork. Everyone loves the place. Oswego is like the crown jewel for these cars.”

Griffin’s father, Joe Miller, was a former Super Stock track champion at Oswego in 2002, and both Joe and Griffin’s uncle, Kelly Miller, are feature winners in the class. Griffin hopes to add his name to that list.

“I want to chase championships in both divisions, that’s the goal,” he said. “It would be really special to be the first father-son Super Stock champions at Oswego.”

Miller knows competition will be stiff on both fronts in 2025. The 350 Super class is expected to grow in talent and car count, and the new Super Stock championship will be far from a walk in the park.

“Last year with the 350 car, it was challenging at first to adapt to the different driving style. It is completely different than what I’ve driven before,” Miller added. “I did feel good about where we were at by the end of the year and think we can contend this year at Oswego hopefully for some wins and a championship.”

As for the stock car? Promoter Jody London’s new series is sure to bring a who’s who of Super Stock drivers to the Big O, with some of the best in the Northeast ready to battle for a title. Miller knows the competition will be fierce.

“I’ve run a Super Stock a lot, but this is going to be tough,” he said. “There’s Garrett Zacharias, Jimmy Steffenhagen, Andy Cryan who just won the DLM, Jake Wylie – I could go and on. There are so many good cars, I couldn’t name them all. Competition is going to be stout. I just hope to hang with them, be consistent, and compete for that championship – same goes for the 350.”

Miller Racing is proudly backed by PCA Paperworks, Tamarack Golf Club, Step One Creative, Paul’s Big M, Miller Machine & Mechanical, and Steve’s Body Shop.

“My Uncle Kelly has also been so helpful this offseason,” Griffin mentioned. “And of course, I’ve got to thank my crew – John Altman obviously, my Grandpa, Dad, Brady, Vesh, JJ, and also Rita for keeping us all fed.”

Griffin will kick off his 2025 season early this Saturday, May 10, at Evans Mills Raceway Park for the Small Block Super Championship Series opener, driving the Ratcliff Racing No. 72, normally piloted by Pascuzzi.

The first 350 Supermodified event at Oswego takes place on Saturday, May 24, with a 30-lap, $2,000-to-win event on Opening Night, alongside the ISMA/MSS Winged Supermodifieds and Pathfinder Bank SBS.

350 Supers will also return on May 31 for another 30-lap feature, this time supporting the 60-lap Jim Shampine Memorial Season Kickoff for the Novelis Supermodifieds.
