Story By: JIM CLARKE / PETERBOROUGH SPEEDWAY – PETERBOROUGH, ONT – You can’t get much with $ 4.00 anymore, but Saturday, June 29th Peterborough Speedway hosts an action-packed night of hometown short track racing.
The Mount Pleasant Road venue that is Making Memories for Life will offer fans the season’s 2nd Double Toonie/Fan Appreciation Night, presented by Pepsi. Enjoy the local Bone Stock, Mini Stock, Super Stock, Late Model and Junior Late Model divisions. With $ 4.00 grandstand admission, spectator gates will open at 4:00, with the show’s first Great Canadian RV green flag at 4:30.
With recent rainouts affecting track time for some of the weekly racers, track officials have added make-up Super Stock heats and Junior Late Model features from the weather shortened June 8th line-up to the Saturday, June 29th schedule.
Kid’s Race – in support of the Canadian National Autism Foundation – will be rescheduled to a new date once confirmed with www.cnaf.net officials.
Close to the halfway point of the regular season schedule, Angelo Novis holds-down the top spot in the Bone Stock running order, while Rob Crick is the Mini Stock point leader. Kyle Gordon is the best of the Super Stock field, with multi-time track champion Dan McHattie at the top of the Late Model. Because of weather issues, Junior Late Model teams have yet to run a feature event.
Still to come as the 2024 calendar rolls on Saturday, July 6th will be a 50-lap feature event for the Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stocks, with the Jiffy Lube Super Stocks, Kingsway Auto Centre Junior Late Models, Trailers Plus Ontario Legend Car Series and OMRS Modifieds, with King of the Hill as the intermission feature. The show will also include a make-up feature for the Super Stocks. Spectator gates will open at 5:00, with racing at 5:30.
As for all events, passes are available for all shows by selecting the ‘buy tickets’ option on the track website or at the walk-up ticket booth on raceday. Fans are reminded that Peterborough Speedway is a cash only facility.
