Story By: KYLE SOUZA / JUSTIN BONSIGNORE MOTORSPORTS – WADING RIVER, NY – After a little bit over a month off, Justin Bonsignore and the Kenneth Massa Motorsports team will return to the track this Friday night. The second race of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season will take place at Richmond Raceway in Virginia – the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 150.
Bonsignore opened the season driving the No. 51 Phoenix Communications Modified to a second-place finish at New Smyrna Speedway back in February.
For Richmond, Coastal Fiber, LLC, a local Virginia business that is a full service fiber optic construction and splicing company, will be back on the side of the car. Owned by Mark Langevin, the owner of Phoenix Communications Inc. – Bonsignore’s normal primary sponsor – Coastal Fiber, LLC returns to the side of the No. 51 for the Virginia is For Racing Lovers 150.
Bonsignore is a former winner at Richmond, picking up the checkered flag in 2022. In three career Richmond starts, Bonsignore has a win, a fourth and a DNF – and has qualified first or second in all three events.
He’s excited to get back to the Virginia oval for a race that will be the first of two in two weeks for the team. The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will return to Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on Sunday, April 7, as part of Icebreaker weekend, their first New England race of the season.
“We’ve had great speed at Richmond every time we’ve been there,” Bonsignore said. “Ryan Stone and the team have worked hard during our break in the past month to prepare for Richmond and the rest of the season. We’re looking forward to getting down to Richmond and then will be excited to get back to New England for Thompson’s Icebreaker.”
NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour teams will have two practice sessions, qualifying and the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 150 on Friday.
