Story By: JIM CLARKE / PETERBOROUGH SPEEDWAY – PETERBOROUGH, ONT – Celebrate the Nation’s birthday when Pepsi presents another Double Toonie/Fan Appreciation Night – Saturday, July 1st – at Canada’s Toughest 3rd Mile Oval.
Canada Day at Peterborough Speedway includes home track Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, SwitchTire Mini Stock, Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck, Jiffy Lube Super Stock and KOD Disposal Late Model racing, with an on-track driver autograph session at intermission. And spectator grandstand admission passes are just $ 4.00. Track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse says this is a great way to launch the long weekend.
“After losing the Saturday, June 24th show to Mother Nature, we’re looking forward getting things rolling again with a night of racing that highlights our weekly divisions,” said J.P. Josiasse. “Racers in all of our regular classes are working hard toward a 2023 title. As we get closer to the halfway point of the season, every gained on the track could translate to a mile in their quest for the overall crown.”
Showing up with numbers of close to 20 entries in their first – and so far, only appearance this year – Josiasse says Peterborough Speedway’s KOD Disposal Late Model field is looking forward to getting back to the track. Multi-time titleholder and Autumn Colours Classic winner Dan McHattie picked-up the division’s feature win in an event dating back to Saturday, June 3rd.
Buoyed by some new entries – including OMRS regular Chad Strawn, a 2nd truck from the Jordan DesRoches stable and the No. 15 of newcomer Scott Richards – the Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck class has seen a resurgence of talent in 2023. A dozen different drivers have scored points in the trio of dates to this point in the schedule.
Peterborough Speedway’s Canada Day Double Toonie/Fan Appreciation Night – presented by Pepsi – will see pit gates open Saturday, July 1st at 1:30, spectator grandstands at 4:00 and the first qualifying heat at 5:00.
Bullring bullet points: The Autism Awareness Night, in support of the Canadian National Autism Foundation has been rescheduled to Saturday, July 15th.
