McLaughlin Stuns SuperModified World, Returns The craZ8 To Victory Lane At Oswego

Story By: TYLER WALKER / MAX MCLAUGHLIN RACING – MOORESVILLE, NC – Max McLaughlin in his second career start in a SuperModified brought home the victory at the famed Oswego Speedway in Oswego, NY.
It was a very dramatic ending where he bested his teammate Tyler Thompson by just 0.159 seconds when Tyler ran out of fuel coming out of turn four. Under the cool-down lap, Max ran out of fuel as well.
Max commented after the race on Saturday, “Wow… what a night! I never expected to win in a super right away, but the Jason Simmons Racing guys gave me an awesome car and it’s an absolute blast to drive it. It’s unfortunate how we won, I would have liked to stay upfront the entire race, but Tyler was much faster. I honestly thought the race was over, I was happy with second. I’m thankful and I look forward to working on catching the 98 the next time we are over here. This win ranks up with some of the biggest wins in my career, not only because it’s in a Super, but this adds to our family’s legacy.”
If you were tuned into FloRacing, the race seemed like it was over Tyler had the field covered. I practically fell off of my couch in excitement as I’m sure many others did as well. If you are a fan of Max, this win was sweet as he stated in the comment above. “Magic Shoes” Mike McLaughlin has won at Oswego Speedway many times in numerous race cars. The smiles on Max and Mike were definitely worth the price of admission.
Jason Simmons Racing has Oswego figured out with their SuperModified program; it is no secret. Tyler will be back in two weeks for the Classic and Max has prior commitments with the Gary Putnam Racing/ CURB Records #77 with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour at Jennerstown.
Max will be in action this Tuesday night with the Short Track Super Series visit to Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, NY behind the wheel of Norm Hansell’s #357.
