RPW Column: Eyes On The Weather: Forecasting What To Expect This Weekend At Stafford

Column By: STEPHEN DURHAM / RPW – STAFFORD SPRINGS, CT – Stafford Speedway’s ready to roar to life for 2021.

The weather this weekend at Stafford Motor Speedway looks to cooperate easily the first half of the weekend to get their NAPA Auto Parts Opening Day underway.

Temperatures will be getting into the mid to upper 60’s by early Saturday afternoon, just in time for the first green flag at 2PM! Mostly sunny skies will accompany that green flag and many more green flags into Saturday evening. Temperatures will start to dip back down into the 50s as the afternoon and evening persists.

For Saturday, all the action will be on the track with the Granite State Pro Stock Series, SK Modifieds, Late Models, Limited Late Models, and Street Stocks all eager and ready to get the 2021 season campaign underway.

By feature time Saturday evening, temperatures will right in the mid 50’s, a few clouds on the horizon, but otherwise just kick back, and enjoy the show on the track!

If Sunday’s weather does allow for action, it will definitely keep you warm! The ground pounding Whelen Modified Tour returns to Stafford! Competing on Sunday will be the SK Modified, SK Light Modified, and Vintage All-Starts.

Sunday’s weather does looks to challenge the staff at Stafford Motor Speedway for the 49th Annual Spring Sizzler. As of Thursday night’s model outputs, the bulk of the rain does try to get out of Connecticut by 1-3PM Sunday afternoon.

The sooner the rain can leave the region Sunday, the quicker green flag racing can return. There is hope for racing on Sunday, if the storm system does move along quick enough, or if the storm trends weaker or drier as well.

Temperatures on Sunday will be hovering around the 50-degree mark, before falling back into the upper 40s Sunday evening, so bundle up if you plan to be at the track.

The Main Grandstand gates open up at 11AM Saturday and Sunday, with racing action starting at 2PM each day as well. All Racing can be caught live on FloRacing if you can’t make it to the track. In the event of a rainout on Sunday, Stafford Motor Speedway says events on Sunday would be pushed to next Friday night.
