Story By: CHAD OFIARA / HALMAR FRIESEN RACING – STATESVILLE, NC – It’s time for Stewart Friesen and the Halmar Friesen Racing team to go left and right at the Daytona International Speedway.
Stewart will be starting 30th on Friday night in the BrakeBest 159 on the Daytona Road Course. There will be no qualifying. The race will be live on FS1 at 7:30 EST and be 44 laps (159 Miles) in distance.
Stewart has completed 46 of 46 laps attempted at the Daytona Intl. Speedway Road Course.
“We have only raced the road course at Daytona once, but I loved it,” Friesen said. “It was a lot of fun. Last year was a grind. We had an alternator fail from the get go, but Trip made a great call to come in and fix it before too many guys were a lap down.”
Then, the team was on a mission.
“We got our lap back and then just tried to race the race,” he said. “It was probably one of the most rewarding top-10’s of my life. I was proud of the whole Halmar Toyota team , we were happy to get out of there last year with the top-10 and are eager to improve on that Friday.”
Stage one ends on lap 12. Stage 2 ends on lap 25 and the race ends on lap 44. The HFR team will be utilizing Truck #020. They will be working out of pit stall #2 which is located one spot away from the exit of pit road closest to the traditional turn 1.
