Story By: HALMAR FRIESEN RACING – STATESVILLE, NC – It’s NASCAR Throwback Weekend, and Stewart Friesen is getting in on the action.
As part of it, the Halmar International #52 Toyota Tundra will be running a special paint scheme honoring Stewart’s grandfather, Stan Friesen. The scheme is designed to resemble Stan’s #52 ‘36 Coupe “Dolly Dear”.
Sunday will be Friesen’s first race at the historic Darlington Speedway and he will start from the 8th position. The race will be live on Fox Sports 1 at 2PM.
The red and white Ace Alignment sponsored #52 with Stan Friesen behind the wheel and Kurt Uhl wielding the wrenches, was a force to be reckoned with at many tracks on both sides of the border.
“Darlington is a track that we have always wanted to race at, and I am very excited that the trucks are included for throwback weekend this year,” Friesen said. “We really appreciate Chris Larsen letting us run a throwback of my grandfather’s Dolly Dear car from the 70’s. Hopefully we have some good luck with Dolly Dear like Pops and Kurt Uhl did back in the 70’s.”
Friesen is currently 14th in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoor Truck Series points standings. Sunday, stage 1 ends on lap 45. Stage 2 ends on lap 90 and stage 3 ends on lap 147.
After the fifth place finish at Gateway, HFR was able to donate $5,000 to a local St. Louis food bank thanks to the Halmar “Racing To Beat Hunger Campaign”. The campaign continues into Darlington Raceway, with the goal to raise awareness for hunger and to raise $200,000 for local food banks.
Halmar is matching donations from fans, sponsors, etc. up to $100,000. For each NASCAR
Truck race this season that the #52 team finishes in the top 10 we will donate $5,000 to a local food bank.
For each win we will donate $10,000.
