Story By: ASHLEY MCCUBBIN / OSCAAR – ONTARIO, CA – After seeing their 30th anniversary campaign put on hold amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, OSCAAR has gotten the green light to kick off the season.
All three divisions within the ranks will be in action across four dates, competing alongside the APC Auto Parts United Late Models of Ontario Tour and Super Stocks. The opportunity comes about through a partnership with APC Series’ Director Luke Ramsay, and is very appreciated by both the staff and drivers within OSCAAR.
With the current government restrictions, no spectators are allowed to be in attendance for the event. However, the APC Series has partnered with GForceTV to broadcast the event. Fans are encouraged to log on for the service free on their website at http://www.GForce.net to take in the action, as well as other racing.
The Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifieds presented by Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd., Touchwood Cabinets, and The Fyre Place & Patio Shop, and the Knightworks Design OSCAAR Hot Rods presented by Sauble Falls Tent and Trailer Park will run their first race of the year at Jukasa Motor Speedway on August 8, alongside the APC Series.
The Modifieds have made two trips to the half-mile oval over the past two years, with Gary McLean and John Harper each getting to victory lane. The Hot Rods, meanwhile, have seen three different victors in their three events, with Tyler Hawn, Jerry Broom, and Steve Book sharing those honors.
The second event will see OSCAAR head to Sauble Speedway on August 22, with the Hot Rods and Living Lighting OSCAAR Pro Sprints joining the APC Series and Super Stocks in action.
The old style classic cars made their first trip to the beach last season, with Billy Alderson Jr. taking the checkered flag. The Pro Sprints, meanwhile, have ran four races there ,with Jordan Hanna and Daniel Hawn splitting the honors.
The third event of 2020 will take place at Flamboro Speedway on September 12, with the Modifieds and Pro Sprints joining the APC Series and Super Stocks.
The Modifieds have made 17 trips to the Millgrove, Ontario oval, with John Harper leading the series with four victories. While nine different drivers have hoisted the trophy, only three have won on multiple occasions, with McLean and A.J. Emms joining Harper. Meanwhile, it’ll mark the 16th event there for the Pro Sprints, as Daniel Hawn leads the way with eight trips to victory lane. Only one other driver has won more than once there, with Jordan Hanna scoring the win on three occasions.
The current slate of races will then conclude with the Modifieds and Hot Rods at Jukasa Motor Speedway on September 26, joined by the APC Series and Super Stocks.
