Column By: BRITTANY NUTILE / RPW – WINCHESTER, NH – The Tri-Track Modified Series came to Monadnock Speedway today and it was a very interesting and enjoyable show, with drama and action-packed racing. When Tri-Track goes to any track it’s usually one of the best shows to watch.
Craig Lutz won the 100-lap Tri-Track race in a last lap pass on leader Les Hinckley. It was a good race with little in the way of caution flags. Then with less than 20 laps to go more aggressiveness and more cautions came to the fore. The ending of the race was something everyone was talking about because some people thought it was aggressive driving on Lutz’s part.
Les Hinckley was not very happy with what had happened. Going into the last lap, Lutz was in the second position and he came into the last turn and moved Hinckley up the track and gave him a nudge to beat Hinckley to the line. Craig said afterward that he comes to compete and to ultimately win and he doesn’t come to a race to get second place.
Les Hinckley finished second in the race. He had a really good race and was up front for the most part. He led a lot of laps, but couldn’t get the win. After the race Les was not very happy with what had happened.
Local drivers like Les Hinckley, Ben Byrne, and Matt Kimball were in the race. You also had the drivers who did double duty this weekend competing in the NWMT series at White Mountain Motorsports Park. Drivers like Craig Lutz, Chase Dowling, Matt Hirschman, Woody Pikat, Ron Silk, and others. The entry list going into Monadnock was at 42 cars. Only 29 cars will be in the feature race.
