Story By: JOHN DOUGLAS / RPW – DAYTONA BEACH, FL – NASCAR’s major changes to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic have been mostly well received by a fanbase that is just happy to have cars on track weekly during a time when many sports are still struggling with the best possible way to return to play.
Unfortunately, some things, like the year-ending Champions banquets have been put on the chopping block as they pose a health risk due to social distancing concerns. NASCAR announced on Monday that all NASCAR Banquets held in Nashville will not occur.
Statement from NASCAR:
“With the uncertainty surrounding the Coronavirus and the impact on the industry, this year’s NASCAR Champion’s Week and NASCAR Cup Series Awards originally scheduled to take place in Nashville will not occur. The 2020 NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series champions will be celebrated at the end of the season with more details to come. We look forward to returning to Nashville in 2021.”
