Story By: RACE OF CHAMPIONS – ELMA, NY – Virtual “Thursday Night Thunder” resumes tomorrow night at 7:30pm on iRacing at Oxford Plains Speedway with the “Easter Bunny 125” with the content being shown as part of Speed51.com Speed51 eSports program.
Over 80 different entries have poured in, with several Race of Champions Modified Series competitors joining racers from different regions of the country as well as all different forms of motorsports have poured in. Brothers, Andy and Daryl Lewis, Jr., are the most recent Race of Champions Modified Series regulars to join in on the fun.
The first event which took place at virtual Concord Motorsport Park was won by Ryan Doucette from Framingham, Massachusetts, who is an experienced i-Racer.
For Thursday night’s event the format has changed. There will be 50 driver’s locked into the 7:30pm portion of the event, with all Race of Champions Series drivers, regardless of Series, with more than one (1) “official” Race of Champions Series start, being locked into the 7:30pm portion of the event. The balance of the 50 drivers locked into the 7:30pm portion of the event will be the drivers who qualified for the Concord Motorsport Park feature and the remaining few positions will be filled out based on the “B-Main” finishes by invitation only. Drivers that violate the invitation system and are not in the first will be removed from the event. In the event there is another violation by any driver in this regard, that driver will be suspended indefinitely from the Series.
All remaining drivers will go into the 6:45pm qualifying event and compete for the remaining 12 positions in the 7:30pm event.
In addition Race of Champions management is working on a “Race of Champions Series Drivers” only race that will be separate from the RoC Invitational events. Once established, this race will be for all qualified Race of Champions Series drivers who have made at least one “official” start in any Race of Champions Series event. The field for these races will be limited to 28 participants. Details will be announced in the near future
The Series will take a week off and then return to action at USA International Speedway on Thursday, April 23.
The Series will conclude with a “one-off” event taking place at Irwindale Speedway and open to the top-30 in the point standings as of the final event, with select driver’s from this series and others earning an invitation to the “Virtual RoC Invitational Showdown”.

The Race of Champions partnered with Sim Racers for Mental Health for a series of events during the late Fall 2019, into the Winter ending in January 2020. Tommy Kreymborg, a young racer from North Sea, N.Y., was crowned the intial Race of Champions Series eSports champion.
