Column By: DYLAN FRIEBEL / RPW – STATESVILLE, NC – While racing is off the table for the time being due to the Corona Virus outbreak, drivers are looking for things to do away from the race track. Some are turning to simulation racing and competing in hosted race sessions being telecast to fans as a way to fill in the gap, while some are finding other ways to occupy their time and get their fill of speed, like Brett Moffitt with motorcycle riding.
Unfortunately for Moffitt, he broke his legs in a motocross accident on Saturday the team announced Monday Afternoon.
The driver of the No. 23 Chevy Silverado for GMS Racing is the 2018 NASCAR Truck Series champion, 11 Time race winner and also has Xfinity Series starts. He has finished 13th and 16th so far this season at Daytona and Las Vegas.
A GMS Representative says Moffitt is in good spirits and expects a full recovery. While it will take 6-8 weeks, it will luckily not affect his racing schedule as many states are following the CDC recommendations of another 8 weeks of Social Distancing due to the national crisis over the Novel Coronavirus, which will most likely push back the NASCAR Season back even more along with major sports all over the country.
