Story By: JIM CLARKE / ONTARIO MODIFIED RACING SERIES – PETERBOROUGH, ONT – Winter’s legendary grasp becomes a little less intrusive with each passing day. Before long, the calendar will be flipped to unveil the start of another season of hometown racing action.
Fans of the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series will have the chance to get their first look at the upcoming schedule by visiting the series’ booth #2006, located in the Stonebridge Racing Zone in Hall #1 during the Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Expo – March 13th through 15th – at the International Centre in Toronto. OMRS spokesperson Rick Warnes says everyone in the tour’s camp is excited about being part of the season preview.
“Since its inception, this show has been one of the racing community’s most popular annual attractions. There’s so much to see and we’re looking forward to being there,” Rick Warnes said. “Rick Sharples and the team at Yesterday’s Speedways have been good friends and supporters of the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series brand since our days at Mosport, so its great to be able to join forces with them for this event.”
In addition to making the 2020 schedule available, Warnes pointed out that series officials will be on hand at the show to answer questions about the upcoming season. Current rookie of the year Alex Cuzzilla and reigning series champion John Baker Jr. will man the OMRS booth at various times throughout the weekend to greet fans and sign autographs.
This will be a season of change in the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series camp, as the group begins a new era since the passing of former driver and long-time official Bill Pickford. Late last year, the tour’s logo was redesigned to show Pickford’s familiar #61 Modified and the new season’s calendar will be dedicated to his memory.
Contingency sponsors Gen 3 Electrical, Borque Transmission, Thinkpath Design, Conview Concrete, Sterling Tire and Clarke Motorsports Communications will support the series in 2020.
