Story By: DAN KAPUSCINSKI / JASON SIMMONS RACING – OSWEGO, NY – Just weeks after returning from the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals in Tulsa, OK, Jason Simmons Racing will travel south for the Atlantic City Gambler’s Classic on January 31 – February 1, as part of the Indoor Auto Racing Championship.
Simmons’ fleet of machines will be led by TQ Midget competitors Tyler Thompson and Michael Barnes.
Barnes landed two top ten finishes during the series opener inside the PPL Center in Allentown, PA earlier this month, and currently stands 11th in the overall driver’s standings of more than 40 drivers.
Thompson currently rides 15th in the championship following a 12th place finish and a DNF during his weekend in Allentown.
For this year’s run in Atlantic City, Thompson aims to qualify for his second career Gambler’s Classic A-Main start, while Barnes will make his first ever attempt.
Joining two TQ Midgets in the JSR pit area will be two Champ Karts piloted by Allentown Indoor winner, Tyler Brown, and Dan Kapuscinski.
Brown is riding a stretch of six consecutive Champ Kart victories for JSR heading into Atlantic City, as he eyes his first win in the Gambler’s Classic. With his win in Allentown, Brown is the current series point leader over Jeremy Tuttle and Mike Perry.
Kapuscinski, in his first year of Indoor Auto Racing Championship action, is 12th in the series standings after the opening round.
Next weekend’s action in Atlantic City will cover three days, with hot laps taking place on Thursday evening inside the famous Boardwalk Hall from 5 – 10 p.m.
Time trials will take place on Friday afternoon, before qualifying races hit the Speedway later that evening.
Consolations will take center stage on Saturday morning, with more heat races and final main events on Saturday night.
