Story By: DAN KAPUSCINSKI / JASON SIMMONS RACING – SYRACUSE, NY – For the first time, four Champ Kart events were held as part of the annual NYS Indoor Kart Championships in Syracuse, NY, with Jason Simmons Racing’s Tyler Brown sweeping the weekend with four victories.
Brown bested a field of ten Champ Karts on Friday and Saturday evening, earning a total of $1,000 in winnings behind the wheel of his No. 98 machine.
Brown, who has two career Indoor Auto Racing Championship wins on his resume for JSR, started at the tail of the field in Friday’s PRO main and came on to top fellow Indoor Auto Racing Championship veteran, Ryan Kendall, as well as JSR teammate, Dan Kapuscinski, at the line.
Dennis Williams and Jamie Shutts finished the top five positions in the Friday night PRO main event, which paid $500 to win.
On Saturday, Brown started from the pole position in the PRO main by virtue of winning his qualifying heat race. Brown would go on to lead all 20-laps over a hard charging Shutts and Kendall.
Gene Gregoric and Kapuscinski landed in the top five slots at the conclusion of the weekend’s second $500 to win PRO main.
Brown would also win each night’s 15-lap warmup main with Kendall taking second in both. Kapuscinski and Shutts would share podium positions in the weekend’s warm-up features.
JSR’s Savannah Simmons finished fourth in Friday night’s Jr. Sportsman Purple main event.
